In May 2023, Layla was found abandoned in the middle of the dunes, in excruciating pain from an open leg fracture. She had been suffering for so long and so severely that she aborted her baby due to the unimaginable trauma. Alone and broken, she was spotted by someone working at a small beach kiosk, someone who made the call that saved her life.
Since then, Layla has shown incredible strength and resilience.
After a lengthy hospitalization period of seven entire months, undergoing two major surgeries, one on each of her front legs, Layla is back at our sanctuary. She now begins a long journey of recovery in a safe place, surrounded by people who love her.
Layla requires daily physiotherapy, wound care, and special walks on different terrains to rebuild strength and mobility. She’s already been dewormed and treated for ticks, but her care is far from over.
